A Tantalizing Taste of Art Basel Hong Kong - De Sarthe Gallery Mar 06

about

de Sarthe Gallery, Hong Kong and Beijing

Pascal de Sarthe, founder and director of the de Sarthe Gallery, will show works from three post-war Chinese masters who infused Western aesthetics into their art.

The gallery handles works from Western as well as Asian modern and post-war artists, and Pascal’s son, Vincent, focuses on Chinese contemporary artists from his Beijing outpost. But for Art Basel, de Sarthe is focusing on “the most important post-war Chinese artists” – Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun and T’ang Haywen. One he singles out is Zao Wou-Ki, a Chinese artist who moved to France in the late 1940s and died in 2013.

Zao’s works at Art Basel will range from about US$1 million to US$10 million or more, de Sarthe says.
