"Minimal History": Panel Talk with Mak Ying Tung 2

de Sarthe, Hong Kong

As a conclusion to Mak Ying Tung 2's solo exhibition Home Sweet Home, de Sarthe will host a special panel discussion with Lai Lon Hin (Artist), Wong Chun Hoi (Artist), Fizen Yuen (Art Critic), and Mak Ying Tung 2. The panel discussion takes place on 11 Jan 2020, from 4-6pm and will be conducted in Cantonese.

"Mak Ying Tung 2, Lai Lon Hin, and Wong Chun Hoi -- within the artwork of these three artists, one investigates the virtual world and technology, another exercises their sensitivity to distorted realities through cellphone photography, and the last uses circuitry to oppose frivolous melodrama. In an age where technology has become mundane, these three artists continue to utilize tech as a means of responding to their environment. Perhaps their responses will not change history, but they speak to deep truths and have political significance in various aspects of life. This panel talk will be moderated by Fizen Yuen, with artists Lai Lon Hin and Wong Chun Hoi as guests, as well as the artist of the exhibition Mak Ying Tung 2.  The panel will discuss artwork production, understanding art as a form of protest, as well as the mutual behaviors and thoughts between the three artists, documenting a short unit of Hong Kong's history"
